History Summary Lessons 36-40
This week I learned about four inventions. the are the electromechanical relay, The revolver, morse code, and the circuit breaker. Each of these inventions were invented around the same period, the 1830s.
The electromechanical relay was a tool used for turning on and off something. It was invented by Joseph Henry in 1835. Joseph Henry was born in New York and had an interest in science. He then invented the multi coil magnet, the key component in the multi coil magnet was used in the electromechanical relay. He was inspired by his own instrument to invent it. He was sent to a boarding school, but was kicked out after starting a fire with one of his experiments. He then invented the electromechanical relay.
The revolver is a type of handgun that was able to shoot 6 accurate, powerful bullets. It was invented by Samuel colt, my favorite inventor, in 1835. Samuel was born in Connecticut and also had an interest in science. He went to a school but was kicked out for starting a fire for one experiment of his went wrong. He went to learn how to sail, but instead was inspired by a steering wheel to invented the revolver.
Morse code is a code that encodes the alphabet into a series of dots and dashes. It was invented by Samuel Morse in 1836. Morse was born in Massachusetts and had a fascination with painting, and was convinced by a very popular painting specialist. he became a painter. One day he got a letter from his father that his wife was recovering from an illness, but the next she was dead! Morse decided that there had to be a better way to communicate with other people faster. He then invented morse code.
The circuit breaker is a tool that protects cables from short circuit damage. It was invented by Charles Grafton Page in 1836. Charles was born in Massachusetts and was fascinated with electricity as a child. He then studied electromagnetism, to one day invent the circuit breaker.
These inventors spent there lives making things easier to use. They created or started the technology and intelligence we have today
