History Inventions That Revolutionized The world

This week I learned about three inventions and an inventor. They are the vapor-compression-theory, Oliver Evans, percussion ignition, and the canning process. They all were invented in the 1700s to1800s.

Vapor-compression-theory is how you keep your refrigerator cold, and preserve your food. It also keeps your fridge closed by pressurizing air and making kind of like a barrier in between cold and warm air. It cycles warm air out and cold air in. It also keeps food cold to slow decay and mold. At first it was used to keep ice cold, so people can have ice water and a cold house. Then it made life easier. It was invented in the late 1700s.

Oliver Evans was the one who invented the vapor-compression-theory, and the one who invented the better flour milling process. He revolutionized the flour industry, and helped with the fineness of the cloth. It was a great discovery, and it helped other people by making it easier to make fine cloth, or more expensive cloth. It was invented in the early 1800s.

The percussion ignition is a tool made that made a firearm deadlier than anything else. It was used to fight in The French Revolution because it was the most effective weapon they had. Percussion ignition is a process that creates an explosion making the gun fire a bullet. It was invented in the 1807.

The canning process is the process of putting food into a jar to preserve it. It can preserve food up to 110 years, but only if it is cold. It was very helpful to the food industry because they could preserve food for very long periods. It usually holds fruits and veggies.

These all were very helpful to society in the way they were used to protect, preserve, and to invent. They were very helpful back then because people did not know how to solve the problems they had, and these inventions and inventor, solved them.

    Summary: Lessons 1-5

This week I learned about three inventions. They are the suspension bridge, the fire hydrant, and the locomotive. All were invented sometime within the late 1600s to the early 1800s. These inventions impacted the world by allowing for more efficient transportation and increased safety.

The suspension bridge is a cheap structure that helps with transporting coal, ores, and other things. Other than that, it was built to withstand the weight of heavy materials, like ores. There is a famous example, and it is the golden gate bridge. It was built in the late 1700s to the very early 1800s.

The fire hydrant is something that helps firefighters store and have access to the water through the fire hydrant. Sometime not to long ago there was an earthquake and that started a lot of fires. There was one fire hydrant that worked out of all of the fire hydrants in the entire town, and the firefighters where able to save one block. In fact, the successful hydrant was painted gold once per year after that. The hydrant was invented in the mid-1700s.

The locomotive is a type of train that is steam powered. It runs by burning coal which produces steam that is put under pressure to power the train. Cargo, coal, and useful metals were mostly what was carried on locomotives, or steam powered trains. It was what helped people travel mostly back then. It was invented in the early 1800s.

All of the inventions that I have covered today were helpful to human kind. I am glad that they where invented. They all helped in different ways, but all of them were based on efficiency.

  • My Favorite Summer Vacation

My favorite summer vacation is our Nags Head trip. On our trip, we drove 12 hours to get to Nags Head and we stayed seven days. On the first day, we got used to being at Nags Head and went to the market to get food for the week. The next day, we got a bunch of little souvenirs and visited a lot of places like the aquarium and the beach. We took the next day to just relax after all the activity.  Next, we went out to buy clothing and some really special food at a trendy sushi place. We got ice cream at Bootie Treats, a really popular ice cream shop. Then we went the beach and played  for most of the day. We said goodbye and left on the last day and headed to Gettysburg.

  • A Creepy Story

    English Essay – Lessons 81-85

The best story I have heard in my life was a horror story. It went like this: There once lived a man named David. Now David went to work on one fine day and when he got there, not a living soul could be found there. He thought that they were all sick, so he went back to his home. Nobody was there. He thought to himself, “Why isn’t there anybody here?” Then he heard a noise and turned around, but nobody was there. He heard it again, but this time something was on his ceiling and it said, “I’m…here…for…you…” Nobody ever heard from him again.

  • My Bahamas Adventure

Literature Essay – Lessons 81-85 – Little Women

If I had a lot of money, what would I spend it on? I chose going on a trip to the Bahamas. I would go to the Bahamas because Dad said it was awesome.

There are so many activities I would like to do in the Bahamas. I would love to go spear fishing and catch my own dinner. I want to see new species, and swim in uncharted waters. I think it would be cool to swim with sharks that are friendly. I love the ocean so much, and I want to breathe in fresh air! I want to trek the untracked, and I want to trap an iguana to make it my pet!

I want to be a cryptozoologist. I would love to find any criptids, to actually see if they exist. I want to find ship wreckage in the waters of the Bahamas where criptids may be. I will go and see if there is buried treasure and maybe make knew friends. A trip to the Bahamas would be a wild adventure. Maybe I will find a criptid or buried treasure.

  • Summarizing Lessons 81-85

    History Essay – Lessons 81-85

This week I learned about two inventions and two historical figures. They are the mariner’s astrolabe, double-entry bookkeeping, Luca Pacioli, and Leonardo Da Vinci. My favorite historical figure from this week was Leonardo Da Vinci.

The first invention was the mariner’s astrolabe with four cut out holes. The mariner’s astrolabe was an innovation from the astrolabe. It was made to be an astrolabe that suited the ocean more than land.

The second invention was double-entry bookkeeping. It was a way of keeping track of your money and your worth. In that time, bartering was declining. There had to be a way of accounting for your valuables.

Luca Pacioli invented double-entry bookkeeping. Luca was best known for advancing the economy through double-entry bookkeeping. He lived during the 1400s and contributed to the Renaissance.

The last historical figure was Leonardo Da Vinci. Leonardo was a famous painter and made the most high-priced paintings ever. Although he couldn’t focus for a second, he was rather gifted. He was good at biology, geometry, chemistry, and was an inventor. Leonardo is my favorite historical figure because he made a lot of good things in his life… even though he could not focus for a second, just like me!

  • Summary of Inventions Again

    History Essay – Lessons 76-80 – Summarize

In History I learned about four inventions. They are chess, the arquebus, the printing press, and the mainspring. Chess is a game of strategy that began in India in the 6th century and is still played today. The second invention was the arquebus. It was a long gun being also a muzzle loaded firearm. It was used from the 15th to the 17th century. The third invention was the printing press. It was a machine designed to speed up the process of making books. It’s use grew rapidly from the 14th through the 16th century. The last invention was the mainspring. A mainspring is a spiral torsion spring of metal ribbon. It was usually used as a power source for clocks. My favorite invention was the arquebus because it was a gun and an early form of rifle.

  • The Activity I Would Choose

Literature Essay – Little Women Essay 8

There are three activities in Little Women this week, babysitting, working hard on your arts, visiting neighbors, and throwing parties. Out of all of them I would choose working hard on your arts, or working hard on something your good at. I’m going to list three reasons why in this essay, and I will also talk about what I’m good at like music or Ju-Jitsu.

I’m very good at Ju-Jitsu, and I even made a kid, who was skilled, tap. In music I’m good at playing, “Radioactive,” and “Zombie,” on the electric guitar. At my music school, I will be graduating Rock 101 to join the performance group soon. I’m also good at basketball and can make a shot almost every time.

I’d like to practice all three activities more. For example, I practiced guitar rarely before two weeks ago, but now I practice every day and I’m having a lot of fun. I also would like to practice Jiu-Jitsu because I still barely know anything about pummeling. In basketball, I would like to practice my form.

I would choose these activities over the others because they are challenging. I don’t know everything about them. For example, I don’t know nearly all of the moves in Ju-Jitsu. I don’t know everything in music, like scales or songs. Although I make lots of shots, I don’t know all the rules. I just need more time to learn.

  • Who Beth Should Marry

    Literature Essay – Lessons 61-65

This week in Little Women, Beth was very lonely. I’m going to be talking about who Beth should marry. I will also talk about two people she shouldn’t marry and one she should marry.

The first one she shouldn’t marry is Fred. Fred is a cheater and is selfish. Fred hogs food and toys. Fred is not a good man at all. He is the opposite of friendly, he is unfriendly. Fred always gets what he wants and will cry until he gets it. He is a greedy pig all-in-all.

The second is Mr. Brooke. He is really selfish. He will hog anything and say it’s his. He is also in love with her sister, Meg. He will try to deceive people by being nice for a while, and then he becomes angry and rude to them after that. He is even worse then Fred by far. I do not think he will get married to any one.

Unlike the first two, Laurie is very polite and never cheats in a game. He never hogs anything and lets people eat first. He is never selfish and will do as Beth pleases. He is very good at calming down when having a bad day too. I think Beth will marry him.

Out of all these people Laurie is the nicest, the most polite, and true to his word. He is the best at being kind to people and does not think of himself first, he thinks of others.

  • This Week’s Inventions

    History Essay – Lessons 61-65

There are four inventions I learned about this week. We studied buttons, oil paint, the cannon, and the spinning wheel.

The first invention I learned about this week was the button. The button is a piece of plastic cut into a circle that has two holes. Its purpose is to keep clothing together tightly enough that it is hard to see the skin.

The second invention was oil paint. Oil paint is a type of paint that can be made from oils, eggs, snail slime and even pig snot. It is mixed with pigment, and it allows for us to paint with more detail than earlier paints from before the 15th century.

The third invention I learned about this week was the cannon. The cannon is a weapon used to break walls and destroy whatever they target. The cannon helped people destroy walls and protect walls. We can trace back the first cannon to China, but it has been used by many counties.

The last is the spinning wheel. The spinning wheel is a table with a wheel that is connected to a piece of string that is spun to knit clothing together. It allowed for clothing to be made faster to sell or trade.

My favorite was the Cannon because every little kid loves things that destroy other things.
